Good morning everyone!

Well, we made it back from the Appalachian Trail (far northeast corner of GA). Boy did we get a "White Christmas" early! 19 of us are still very sore and still very exhausted. Out of the 19 (6 dads and 13 scouts) trekked across some pretty rugged mountains. We experienced God's beauty (as you can see in the two photos). We also experienced how cold and windy it can get and how to stay warm (especially after coming off the trail to camp site).

I had many scouts that have never been on the Appalachian Trail before and I am sure their memory from this trip will be forever etched in their brains. It was absolutely beautiful. I apologize for sending only two pictures, but will hope to have more to follow. I am overwhelmed of how everyone did their part and I can speak for all of them that we accomplished an incredible feat (me included). We tested our endurance throughout the three days there and actually finished a day earlier. I am also overwhelmed from the fathers' sunshine they brought along on this trip. Without their upbeat personalities I am not sure if we could have made it without them.

These young men that went have had their character shaped for their future. We as parents or should I say teachers have had our character shaped as well. These young men are teachers to us too.

I got Walton Vaughan to put one of these pictures on my home screen for my phone and if you look at it a little closer, the footsteps where made by our troop. Kind of like the poem "footsteps in the sand". There were many times I was following those footsteps in the snow and noticed there were only one or two sets of footprints vs. many knowing God was carrying us.

We took another vacation with God and I thought it would be appropriate to share a small glimpse of we did and accomplished.

Merry Christmas,

Matt
